Amid the expansion of popular protests across Iran and an intensification of security crackdowns, three political parties from Eastern Kurdistan have issued separate statements condemning the killing of protesters in various parts of the country, particularly in Malekshahi, Ilam Province. Emphasizing national solidarity, the parties called for unity among democratic forces and urgent intervention by international institutions to halt the violence.

In a statement, the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan reported that dozens of civilians have been killed or injured in the provinces of Ilam, Kermanshah, Lorestan, Hamedan, and other regions. The party noted that protests which initially began over economic grievances have now evolved into a broad-based movement advancing political and democratic demands.
Referring to the bloody events of Saturday, January 3, in Malekshahi, the party warned of severe shortages of blood supplies and medical facilities for the wounded, and called on international humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately. The Democratic Party also urged all people and democratic, freedom-seeking forces to “stand united and resolute against the repression and violence of the Islamic Republic.”

At the same time, the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan described the ongoing protests as the outcome of an “accumulation of deep economic, social, and political crises,” placing the current uprising in continuity with the protests of 2017, 2019, and the 2022 “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement.
Condemning the use of live ammunition against demonstrators, Komala held the Islamic Republic and its leadership fully responsible for killings and human rights violations. The party called on various social groups to join nationwide strikes and street protests to strengthen the uprising, and urged the United Nations, the European Union, and other international bodies to apply political and diplomatic pressure to stop the repression.

In another statement, the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK) described those killed in the Malekshahi protests as “symbols of the resistance of the Zagros region and the free Kurdish people.” The party stated that Ilam and Kermanshah, alongside Lorestan, Hamedan, and Bakhtiari regions, have become central hubs of popular resistance.
PJAK condemned what it called the “systematic killing of protesters,” stressed the people’s legitimate right to self-defense in the face of state violence, and warned against opportunistic groups attempting to exploit the protests. It also called on residents of tribal and عشایری regions to remain vigilant, united, and to resist divisive tactics employed by security forces.

These statements come as protests continue across Iran, with reports indicating a rising number of casualties and arrests in multiple regions of the country.
