In a brutal extrajudicial killing, IRGC forces have assassinated two Kurdish brothers, Meysam and Mojtaba Veysi, in the Dalahu region. On the morning of May 28, 2026, security forces surrounded the village of "Qalakah" without warning and opened heavy gunfire on the house where the activists were sheltering. Both were killed instantly. The fate of their companion, Farshad Hatamipour, remains unknown.

The Veysi brothers were well-known cultural figures and activists in Kermanshah, recognized for founding the "Daradriz" library and organizing Nowruz celebrations. They had been forced into hiding due to persistent state surveillance.

The Context of Systemic Oppression

This assassination occurs amidst an unprecedented escalation of state-sponsored violence against the Kurdish nation, characterized by systemic apartheid:

• Protest Victims: 57% of victims during the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" revolution were from Kurdistan.
• Mass Detentions: In recent weeks, 96% of political detainees have been reported from Kurdish regions.
• Disproportionate Executions: Kurds account for over 50% of political executions and 50% of the political prison population in Iran, despite making up only 10-12% of the total population.
• Transnational Aggression: Since February 28, 2026, amid regional conflicts, the residences of Kurdish activists in the Kurdistan Region have been targeted by missile strikes nearly 900 times, despite the Kurdish people having no involvement in the current war.
